Aisha's Story on Thursday Oct. 2 @ 7 pm at Cinecenta (UVic cinema). Tickets $8.

UVic professor and supporter of VG4A Dr. Elizabeth Vibert collaborated to make this film.  Several VG4A members have seen it and highly recommend it to others. It is especially relevant in these troubled times in Palestine.

Elizabeth says that Aisha's Story had its world premiere at Hot Docs in Toronto in April, followed by DOXA in Vancouver, and then festivals in the Middle East (Amman – where Aisha joyously attended with dozens of family members; an Arab film festival in Jerusalem). We have festivals in the next month in Gaza (organizers are still holding out hope there is a place to screen), Morocco, and Colorado; and later in the fall/winter in Europe and elsewhere.

  • Top 20 Audience Favourite Award at Hot Docs
  • Audience Award for Mid-length Documentaries at Hot Docs
  • Honourable Mention for the Vancouver Film Studios Award at DOXA (Vancouver)

For those who have seen the film (some of you more than once), the new cut includes material from a recent virtual conversation with Aisha.
